City Beekeeping is a family-owned business rooted in over 200 years of beekeeping tradition, originating in Iran and expanding across North America. Our mission is to bring beekeeping into urban areas, educating the public—especially young people—on the essential role bees play in sustaining ecosystems. Through urban beehives, we raise awareness about bee-derived products like honey, propolis, royal jelly, and their health benefits while prioritizing sustainable, GMO-free practices. Our journey of over two centuries has been marked by our determined passion to beekeeping and the well-being of honeybees. Throughout this remarkable span of time, we have delved into various aspects of beekeeping, from progressive bee disease control measures to leading genetic programs aimed at strengthening the bee populations by regulating colony hygiene behaviours. Our business narrative is centred around the establishment of our project at City Beekeeping, where we have brought bee hives into the urban area for specific and meaningful purposes. Our main objective is to educate the public, with a special emphasis on the younger generation, about the important role that bees play in our natural environment. Through our dedicated efforts, we aspire to introduce urban residents to the world of beekeeping and provide them with opportunities to actively engage in this unique field. By introducing beehives into the city, our aim is to enlighten urban dwellers about various aspects of beekeeping and increase their understanding of the wide range of products derived from bees, including honey, bee propolis, bee venom, Royal jelly, bee pollen, and the associated health benefits they offer


Our project was initiated with the intention of aiding in the revitalization of the natural environment that has been impacted by population growth, increased infrastructure, and the carbon footprint. We fully recognize and appreciate the invaluable contribution of bees in replenishing the once-depleted natural sources of vegetation. In addition, we have taken significant measures to ensure that our beehives are kept away from monoculture and protected from any exposure to GMOs and chemicals. This practice allows us to offer bee products that are completely GMO and chemical-free. Furthermore, we have also considered the fact that cities offer a diverse range of flowers that can adequately meet the nutritional requirements of our beloved bees. The abundance of nectar and pollen sources in urban areas facilitates the growth and longevity of the bee population, which, in turn, leads to the production of higher quality and increased quantities of bee products such as honey, royal jelly, bee pollen, and more

Biography of the founder

Hossein Yeganeh Rad, founder and CEO of City Beekeeping Inc., is a visionary in urban beekeeping with a family legacy spanning over two centuries. Born in Iran into a beekeeping family, Hossein’s journey has transformed beekeeping on a global scale. His work includes pioneering solutions for bee health, such as the groundbreaking “CaspianSolution” for combating the devastating American Foulbrood Disease. Expanding the family’s expertise to Canada and the United States, Hossein has launched multiple enterprises, including Caspian Apiaries Inc. and Vancouver Honey LTD, each committed to sustainable beekeeping practices. With a focus on purity, authenticity, and innovative bee-derived products—from apitherapy to cosmetics—Hossein’s contributions not only sustain the industry but also promote bee health and environmental restoration, cementing his role as a leader in global apiculture
